For more than a decade, our community has embarked on a mission to make Williamsport an art destination in North-Central Pennsylvania. The Pajama Factory has been a part of that movement since 2007, becoming home to nearly 100 artists working in various mediums.
The Artist in Residence program is a partner in this mission. As an Artist in Residence we ask that you help in this effort with a four hour time commitment to the community at large using your unique skills. Partnering with our Outreach Committee, your program will help further the arts initiatives in our region.
During your residency, your four hour program will give you the opportunity to interact with the general public in the form of a hands-on workshop or open studio. You should think of a way to share your art in a simple, concise manner. We want you to use your imagination to find a way to fulfill that commitment that is comfortable to you and expresses your talents and strengths. The AIR application form asks for your ideas as part of the acceptance process, but we can offer suggestions that may be a good fit for your work and interests.
Our Outreach Committee can help implement your project and will have the required supplies available. Your obligation is to identify and implement a project that will involve the community It should be simple enough to accomplish in the four hour timeframe while being rewarding to those who attend. You may target an age group and limit the group size as appropriate for the project you choose. The Outreach Committee will use its connections and resources to bring the appropriate guests to your program
You will be reimbursed up to $50.00 for materials.
Here are a few suggestions to help get you started, but we encourage you to come up with your own ideas.
- Children's arts or crafts
- Introduction to art therapy for adults
- Cyanotype photo workshop
- Clay tile workshop
